Tuition is based on a yearly amount. For convenience, the tuition is divided into equal amounts due each month of the year, though the number of classes per month will vary.
We conduct small group lessons of between 3 and 6 students for a harmonious balance of class interaction, classroom management, and progress in English.
Class Time is the duration of the curriculum-based lesson.
Plus Time is scheduled time before or after Class Time in which the teacher can interact extensively with students and parents of students beyond the English language patterns and vocabulary practiced during Class Time, developing relationships, fluency, and interest in English. The content of Plus Time is decided by the teacher in consultation with the parents of students and students and may consist of such things as unstructured playtime, special games, special projects, conversation with parents, or other ideas.
This is the total duration of scheduled time between students and teachers each week, or simply Class Time and Plus Time added together.
The Rainbow Bridges calendar has the same number of classes per year no matter which day of the week the classes are regularly scheduled.
Evaluative Feedback is a report including numerical evaluation of student performance, short written commentary from the teacher, and indication of progress through the curriculum.
Extended feedback is an in-depth assessment of the student written in paragraph form by their teacher. Also included is a Curriculum Report, a checklist of targets achieved thus far and those to be studied in the future.
Toddlers students receiving Written Feedback will get periodic written commentary on their child from their teacher. Children at this level are not "evaluated" so much as to ensure communication and understanding between student, teacher, parent, and school administration.
Parents' Days are days that parents are specifically invited to watch the class. They usually coincide with a progress milestone achieved by the class, such as the completion of a textbook, and are attended by an administrative staff member.
For delivery lessons, contact with administration occurs frequently by phone and email, but we also offer in-person communication. On these days, an administrative staff member visits the class to talk with parents about the curriculum, interact with the children, and see that the class is running smoothly. They may be scheduled to coincide with a Parents' Day.
This pass allows the student to attend any regular Rainbow Bridges event for free. Camps and foreign travel are not included, though events like Christmas dinner and the Beach Barbecue are.
Applicable classes receive occasional visits by an advanced student, teacher, or administrative member that will coach class members and give them additional attention.
Guided Self Study participants receive additional English learning materials and study plan structure that helps them learn self-responsibility, organizational skills, additional confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and acquire language patterns. Students have access to both a library of graded readers (fun books tailor-made for learners) and English videos for training at home.
The variety of events our academy offers are opportunities for students to enhance their experience with English. Students in attendance can find new friends and better grasp that they are a part of a larger group of students sharing similar goals in learning English. They also share culture, time with their teacher and other native and high-level speakers of English. We also encourage parents of children to attend, get to know teachers and staff, and see their children learn and grow. Learn more about our events here.
Rainbow Bridges publishes "The Bridge," a newsletter with academy news and events, educational stories, puzzles, and more.
The Rainbow Bridges English Academy YouTube channel offers a large collection of the best videos for English language learners organized into playlists according to student level. This is a community service, available to learners around the world for free.
We love photography and offer high-quality pictures of events and classes available to students in digital and print formats.
We offer top articles of interest in education from around the world for parents and teachers in Japanese. This is a free community service.
Classes of one student only usually make quick progress with the large amount of one-on-one student-teacher interaction time possible, though interaction with other students can also be highly beneficial. Even with private classes, we offer frequent events to meet other students and teachers.
